Berlin Diversithon - A Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to increase visibility of women scientists and other underrepresented groups in the life sciences

Submitted by kaho_equality on Mon, 01/21/2019 - 16:07

On the occasion of International Women’s Day we invite you to the Berlin Diversithon on March 7, 2019!

Only 17.7% of English language biographies and 15.6% of German language biographies in Wikipedia are for women. There is also an underrepresentation of certain ethnicities and people of colour in science. Our Diversithon is looking to change that balance, but we need your help!

We invite you, whatever your gender, to join us for an exciting Wikepedia edit-a-thon in Berlin.

We all use Wikipedia, so why not help it grow and become more diverse? Participating in our event you can contribute to and improve Wikipedia. Editing scientists’ biographies is an important part of science communication. You can share and expand your knowledge while editing, engage in discussions with other people who are interested in same topics as you and spend an inspiring afternoon with colleagues.

This event is a joint event hosted by the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH), Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Leibniz Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) and Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC).
